The Ecosystem That Chose to Build

Aligned with the UAE’s Proud of UAE initiative and the D33 Agenda, it embodied its tagline: One City. One Week. One Nation. MENA Blockchain Week 2026 did not emerge from favorable conditions; it emerged despite them. At a time of global market uncertainty across digital assets, the UAE’s ecosystem chose not to contract; it organized.

The initiative was a direct expression of the resilience that defines the UAE’s approach to emerging industries: when conditions are difficult, the response is to build with greater intention. The initiative also drew recognition from Dubai’s tourism and events leadership for strengthening the emirate’s standing as a destination for emerging industries.

Why Dubai: Jurisdiction, Regulation, and Institutional Alignment

Dubai’s position as the world’s leading blockchain destination rests on three pillars no other city has replicated simultaneously: progressive regulation through VARA, institutional backing aligned with the D33 Agenda, and sustained inflows of international capital and talent. MENABCW reflected all three; its architecture distributed authority and value across organizers, venues, and community partners. This mirrored the collaborative model that has made Dubai a city where ecosystems are built, not just hosted.

Day 0: The Summit That Preceded the City-Wide Week

MENABCW began on 14 May, four days before the public week opened. The Community Resilience Summit, a private, invitation-only gathering at Dubai Founders HQ, set the strategic tone. Regulators, founders, institutional investors, and policymakers convened to discuss what the ecosystem needs and what MENA’s next chapter in digital assets should look like. “When the market pulled back, the community stepped forward,” said Mohamad AlHusseini, Founder of MENA Blockchain Week and CEO of SkyNet X Solutions. “MENA Blockchain Week is what that looks like: an ecosystem that chose to build rather than wait, in one city that has never stood still.”

The conversation skewed toward joy and pride as dominant emotions across a community that was 65% male / 35% female and 94% English-speaking (Arabic second).

The UAE’s Institutional Representation

VARA was present throughout, with Dr. Ayesha Bin Lootah and Paul Herman Boots representing the regulatory clarity that has made the UAE the world’s most credible jurisdiction for digital-asset licensing. Dubai Blockchain Center, led by Dr. Marwan Alzarouni, anchored the institutional opening. The Dubai Digital Asset Association (D2A2), represented by Secretary General Saqr Ereiqat, bridged policy and private-sector conversations.

“Dubai’s ability to bring together global industries, talent and investment continues to drive the growth of specialised business ecosystems across the emirate. MENA Blockchain Week reflects the increasing scale and maturity of the blockchain and digital assets sector in Dubai through a coordinated city-wide model that connects industry stakeholders, investors, innovators and communities across a full week of programming. Initiatives of this scale further reinforce Dubai’s position as a leading global destination for international business events and emerging industries.” Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment.
"MENA Blockchain Week (MENABCW) is a natural extension of Dubai's blockchain leadership. The decentralized model it operates on reflects the city's spirit, open, collaborative, and built for scale. The Dubai Blockchain Center (DBCC) is fully behind this initiative and the community it serves. " Dr. Marwan Alzarouni, CEO, Dubai Blockchain Center (DBCC).

“I view MENA Blockchain Week (MENABCW) as a significant milestone in our regional ecosystem, not only for its scale, but for its decentralized architecture that empowers the community and activates Dubai as a global hub for shared value, collaboration, and innovation across the MENA region. It demonstrates Dubai’s role as a true builder of ecosystems, where resilience, leadership, and innovation converge to shape the future of Blockchain and AI.” Dr. Mohamed Al Hemairy, Chairman of the UAE Blockchain and AI Association
“When the market pulled back, the community stepped forward. MENA Blockchain Week (MENABCW) is what that looks like: an ecosystem that chose to build rather than wait in one city that has never stood still." Mohamad Alhusseini (MoeX), Founder & CEO, SkyNet X Solutions (SNXS) and Founder & Event Director, MENA Blockchain Week (MENABCW)

The inaugural edition also drew the world’s leading exchanges. As a Strategic Partner, Binance, the leading global blockchain ecosystem behind the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, joined the institutional lineup, with senior leaders including Tarik Erk (Head of MENAT) and Yana Minaylova (Head of Institutional Sales & BD, MENA) participating across the week.

With Gratitude: The Voices That Amplified the Week

Beyond its official partners, MENA Blockchain Week 2026 was carried to a global audience by a wider community of media and public voices. While not formal partners, their coverage and recognition helped extend the initiative’s reach to 9.1M, and we acknowledge them with sincere appreciation.

We are especially grateful for the recognition shown by Dubai’s government and institutional channels, including the Dubai Media Office and the Dubai Department of Economy & Tourism, whose coverage reflected the initiative’s alignment with the emirate’s

digital-economy vision and the D33 Agenda.

We thank the regional and international media whose reporting brought the week to audiences across the region and the world, among them Zawya, Emarat Al Youm, Al Bayan, Al Khaleej, Arabian Business, Arabian Post, Argaam, TradingView, MEXC, TechBullion, Cryptonite and DxTalks for their independent coverage of Dubai’s first city-wide blockchain initiative.

We also recognize the industry voices and community advocates who amplified the week organically, including Polygon and its leadership and the many founders, creators, and members of the digital-assets community whose posts and conversations made the city’s energy visible far beyond its borders.

To everyone who mentioned, shared, posted, or simply showed up: thank you. The reach was yours as much as ours.

Year One of a Movement, What Comes Next

MENA Blockchain Week 2026 was the first edition. The movement it started is now scaling on three fronts:

  • New cities: from Dubai to Abu Dhabi (late 2026) and back to Dubai (early 2027), taking the city-wide model across the UAE, with a virtual/hybrid participation layer planned so the global community can join from anywhere.

  • New verticals: the same decentralized playbook extends to MENA AI Week, applying what worked in blockchain to the region’s AI ecosystem.

  • New borders: building on first-edition collaborations with German Blockchain & AI Week and Philippine Blockchain Week, MENABCW is open to cross-border partnerships with blockchain weeks and ecosystems worldwide, a connected, global network of city-wide initiatives.

How to Get Involved

Sponsorship for the 2026–2027 editions is open across tiers:

Founding Title (category-exclusive: one category, one exchange), Platinum, Gold, Silver and Community, plus Signature Moments. Category-exclusive founding positions are limited; pricing is shared on request via a partnership call. We also welcome international event organizers exploring cross-border collaboration.
