The Ecosystem That Chose to Build
MENA Blockchain Week 2026 (MENABCW) did not emerge from favorable conditions; it emerged despite them. At a time of global market uncertainty, the UAE’s ecosystem chose not to contract; it organized. The initiative was a direct expression of the resilience that defines the UAE’s approach to emerging industries: when conditions are difficult, the response is to build with greater intention.
The initiative also drew recognition from Dubai’s tourism and events leadership for strengthening the emirate’s standing as a destination for emerging industries.
Why Dubai: Jurisdiction, Regulation, and Institutional Alignment
Dubai’s position as the world’s leading blockchain destination rests on three pillars no other city has replicated simultaneously: progressive regulation through the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA), institutional backing aligned with the D33 Agenda, and sustained inflows of international capital and talent. MENA Blockchain Week 2026 (MENABCW) reflected all three; its architecture distributed authority and value across organizers, venues, and community partners.
Day 0: The Summit That Preceded the City-Wide Week
MENA Blockchain Week 2026 (MENABCW) began on 14 May, four days before the public week opened. The Community Resilience Summit, a private, invitation-only gathering at Dubai Founders HQ (DFHQ), 25H Hotel One Central, set the strategic tone. Regulators, founders, institutional investors, and policymakers convened to discuss what the ecosystem needs and what MENA’s next chapter in digital assets should look like.

The conversation skewed toward joy and pride as dominant emotions across a community.
The UAE’s Institutional Representation
The Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) was present through Dr. Ayesha Bin Lootah and Paul Herman Boots. Dubai Blockchain Center, led by Dr. Marwan Alzarouni, anchored the institutional opening. Dubai Digital Asset Association (D2A2), represented by Saqr Ereiqat (Managing Partner, 030.Group & Secretary General, D2A2). Notably, DMCC Crypto Center, home to the world's largest Web3 ecosystem, co-hosted a flagship closed-door session on stablecoins and tokenization alongside Dubai Digital Asset Association (D2A2) and the Middle East Stablecoin Association (MESA).
“Dubai’s ability to bring together global industries, talent, and investment continues to drive the growth of specialized business ecosystems across the emirate. MENA Blockchain Week reflects the increasing scale and maturity of the blockchain and digital assets sector in Dubai through a coordinated city-wide model that connects industry stakeholders, investors, innovators, and communities across a full week of programming. Initiatives of this scale further reinforce Dubai’s position as a leading global destination for international business events and emerging industries.” Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment.
"MENA Blockchain Week (MENABCW) is a natural extension of Dubai's blockchain leadership. The decentralized model it operates on reflects the city's spirit, open, collaborative, and built for scale. The Dubai Blockchain Center (DBCC) is fully behind this initiative and the community it serves. " Dr. Marwan Alzarouni, CEO, Dubai Blockchain Center (DBCC).
“I view MENA Blockchain Week (MENABCW) as a significant milestone in our regional ecosystem, not only for its scale, but for its decentralized architecture that empowers the community and activates Dubai as a global hub for shared value, collaboration, and innovation across the MENA region. It demonstrates Dubai’s role as a true builder of ecosystems, where resilience, leadership, and innovation converge to shape the future of Blockchain and AI.” Dr. Mohamed Al Hemairy, Chairman of the UAE Blockchain and AI Association (ABAI).
“When the market pulled back, the community stepped forward. MENA Blockchain Week (MENABCW) is what that looks like: an ecosystem that chose to build rather than wait in one city that has never stood still." Mohamad AlHusseini (MoeX), Founder & CEO, SkyNet X Solutions (SNXS) and Founder & Event Director, MENA Blockchain Week (MENABCW)
"MENA Blockchain Week shows that Dubai’s ecosystem is driven by builders who lead through action. Hadron is proud to support this initiative, providing a physical anchor for the innovation and resilience that make the UAE the heart of the global blockchain community." Saed Ereiqat, Director at Hadron Founders Club.
The inaugural edition also drew the world’s leading exchanges. As a strategic partner, Binance, the leading global blockchain ecosystem behind the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, joined the institutional lineup, with senior leaders including Tarik Erk (Head of MENAT) and Yana Minaylova (Head of Institutional Sales & BD, MENA) participating across the week.
